I love Heavy Metal. I play guitar, and listen to lots of music. I write music too. This is just to share my thoughts, be they good, bad, or anything inbetween. It won't always be about music, but it will MOSTLY be about music. There may also be some naked ladies now and then.

Just thought I’d put up a post with some decent-quality pictures of my current guitars. First up is my Kelly. Through-body neck, genuine Floyd Rose bridge, JB/Jazz pickup set (which I’m going to swap out for Dimarzios). It was brand new when I got it, however because the line it’s from had been discontinued, I got it for a little over 60% of the RRP. It’s just amazing. The neck is the most playable I’ve ever had my hands on, the body shape is my favourite, ever, and has amazing upper fret access, it’s got great sustain, and with it being a genuine Floyd, instead of a licensed model, it stays in tune no matter how much whammy abuse I give it. I wanted to get it in white with black bevels, however there were none left of that colour when I got mine, and once I saw it in person, I fell in love with the black with gold pinstripes that mine came in. And yes, I got a matching strap, and was pleasantly surprised that the Rotosound Nexus strings matched the colours amazingly (black for wound strings, gold for unwound). If I ever had to give up this guitar, I would be more sad than I could deal with.

Next is my 7-year old RR3 Randy Rhoads. Bolt-on, licensed Floyd, came with Duncan-Designed pickups that weren’t potted so had loads of microphonic feedback - not good. I modded it with a new pickguard in diamondplate metal, celtic cross knobs, and then swapped out the pickups for some from a now bankrupt guy-in-a-shed type pickup company, Swineshead Pickups. The neck pup is coil-splittable to give a really good telecaster singlecoil sound. I’m selling this, by the way, if anyone is interested, send me an ask for details.

Last up is my super-cheap Les Paul copy. I think I paid £46 plus postage for this, brand new, off ebay. The stock pickups, tuners, bridge, basically everything on it, were crap. So, new tuners, bridge, pickguard, and pickups were the order of the day, and because the neck on it is actually really nice, it’s now a really great guitar - it plays really well, stays in tune, and sounds great. Once all of that was sorted, I started painting it, and I’m pretty pleased with the result. It’s called Yggdrasil.
